Hickory the Clown, a.k.a. Geoff Turner, has been clowning since February 1991 after watching the premier service of the Joyful Joeys, a Christian clown troupe from the Community Reformed Church of Colonie, NY. Over the years this inter-generational, inter-denominational group has conducted dozens of worship services and ministered to thousands of souls throughout New York and parts of New Jersey. As the "boss clown" for almost 6 years, Hickory was responsible for making all of the arrangements with each church visited including hotel accommodations and transportation.
As a solo clown, or working with others, Hickory has performed for several Sunday school and other church related activities, including Mother/Daughter and Father/Son banquets, weekend retreats and Christian festivals
In Psalm 100 we are told to "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!" and there is no greater joy than laughter. Hickory's mission is to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in a message full of joy and laughter. A typical show is a blend of foolishness, storytelling and illusions which are designed to illustrate God's Love for humanity. The lessons, which are appropriate for all ages, include Noah, Summary of the Law and the Power of the Holy Spirit.
